Luxury & Rugged...a Gemini story.

I wasn’t always aware. I didn’t always know what I really liked, but hell, who does when they’re young. Looking back, you can say that I’ve always enjoyed being active and being outdoors. I loved basketball, football, and I was even heavy into hockey at one point. I also have always had an affinity for gear, aka “stuff”. I just really like the process of preparing for something. Whether it’s packing a gym bag, setting up for a ride on the bike, or packing a suitcase to travel. Gear makes the whole thing that much more fun. To me, there’s no one greater piece of gear than a car, but not just any kind of car. It has to be a car that can get you places, places that not many can get to. A car is the ultimate freedom tool, other than a plane, in my opinion.

I’ve always been into cars, although I’m not into them like I used to be when I was younger. When I was younger I loved Japanese Domestic Market cars aka, JDM. I had a 96 Nissan 240SX in Mediterranean Blue. It had a carbon fiber hood, cat back exhaust, lowering springs, and a sick sound system. All installed by me and some friends. Through the years I’ve also owned a 97’ Mercedes C230 (W202), a leased Toyota Rav4 ( i can’t remember the year), 2003 Toyota FJ Cruiser in Yellow (Tonka Truck), 2004 Audi A4 in black, a leased 2015 BMW 328 XI in black, a leased 2017 BMW 330i in Alpine White, and now a used 2017 Audi Q3 Quattro in Cruvee Metallic Silver.

I say all this not to brag but to show the eclectic taste I have. I love everything. I love the luxurious and I love the ruggedness. I like fine dining and I like hole in the walls. I like dress shoe and I like flip flops, a wise man once said, “I’m somewhere in between.” (Scotty McCreery)

So when the time came to choose a new car, I knew that this time around I wanted an SUV, or maybe I wanted a truck, or actually, maybe I should just get a Porsche 996! Actually, I should just save money and buy a used Honda Civic. Cheap and reliable, yep, that’s what I’ll do. NOPE! I bought a used Audi Q3. You see, I’m someone who loves to drive, so one thing is for sure, I needed to stop leasing so I wasn’t being restricted by milage anymore. I definitely had my heart set on a some type of 4x4, I didn’t want to be constrained to just pavement, but I do love modern technology and the luxuries of a fine German automobile. So that’s what motivated the purchase of the Q3. It has Quattro (All wheel drive), German build, sporty (peppy), and a nice size trunk to haul shit in; If I need more space, I can just add a basket to the roof. The small/crossover Audi is the perfect car for my Gemini.
