This will be short--My opinion

This post will be short—The conflict in the Middle East

There are people who don’t have a problem voicing their opinions.  Whether in a room full of people or behind the wall of a screen.  I, for the most part, also do not have a problem voicing my opinions if warranted.  Sometimes silence is louder.  But, there are topics such as politics and religion where at times it’s best to keep the subject off the table.  Then we have Israel and Palestine.  Where your silence can be deafening and your opinion can be cancel-worthy.

On this topic, I do have my opinions.  I’ve voiced them on social media, and I believe them to be as true as they can be.  However, like most geopolitical topics, messages are heavily biased.  Whether deliberately or unintentionally by the media or just perceived differently by consumers.

To lay out my opinions briefly — This current war is Israel against the terrorist group, Hamas. I firmly stand with Israel, as we all should when it comes to fighting terrorists. On the subject of how Israel treats the Palestinian people in Gaza is a whole other topic. In which, I stand with the people of Palestine. However, we can not be blinded that the current war is against Hamas, first and foremost. Once and if that is resolved, then the world can turn to the mistreatment of the Palestinians by Israel. I also understand that this is a topic that has been ignored by many world leaders, similar to other mistreatments of homogenous groups around the world. (i.e the Uyghur people of China)

As much as I hope for peace among everyone in the world, I believe there will never truly be peace between Palestinians and Israelis.  This is a conflict that goes back to Biblical times, and I think this conflict is deeply embedded in the DNA of these people.

hope that one day, there will be a leader on both sides who can come to an agreement, but even then, I don’t think the distaste for each other will ever be erased.

I hurt for everyone involved and I pray for all.
